Friends of the Library Mission

The mission of the Friends is to foster community awareness of the Monroe Township Public Library’s resources, programs and services; to promote its value as an educational and cultural asset to the community; and to support the library with membership dues and fundraising activities.

Why is the “Friends” needed?

Although the Library is a tax-supported institution, there are many important programs and services that can not be funded through its regular operating budget. Using funds raised by memberships, donations, and various fundraisers, the Friends organization is able to assure that these services are provided.

• The opportunity to continue enriching your life through participation in discussions and lectures

Friends Programs

What the Friends do:

• Award annual college scholarships to graduating MTHS students
• Sponsor “Hot Spots” for mobile internet use
• Sponsor selected museum passes for Library members, through the Free Museum Pass Program
• Sponsor the Jigsaw Puzzle Swap
• Sponsor the American Girl Doll Lending Program
• Sponsor the Bi-Annual Book Sale and the ongoing Mini-Book Sale
• Provide funding for children’s programs
• Sponsor Youth Activities at the Library
• Sponsor International Films and discussions
• Sponsor lectures, cultural, and educational programming
• Sponsor wireless printing
• Fund school and office supplies vending machine
• Help fund Studio M Technology Lab
• Provide monies for needed Library equipment not in the budget
• Hold Annual Membership Tea
