Demolition of the existing 1997 Circulation Desk commenced this week. Next, the wiring will be updated. Here are some photos of the area and what was found under the old Circulation Desk.

Though the work is temporary, we still wanted to have some fun with Halloween decorations on the privacy curtains.

Thursday, September 28, 2023 – The Monroe Township Library’s Circulation area is getting a facelift!

The renovation project for the Circulation Desk and surrounding area is set to begin the first week of October. When it’s complete, we’ll have new desks, ADA compliant flooring, upgraded technology, and a more open, welcoming floor plan.

What does this mean for Library services?

  • The Circulation Desk will be temporarily relocated. The Welcome Desk will also be moved during the project. However, all services at both desks will continue as normal.
  • Library materials may be returned at the Circulation Desk or at the book drops in the Drive-Thru Window, at the Senior Center, and at the Community Rec Center. The interior Library book drop may be inaccessible during periods of the construction project.
  • All Library events and programs will continue as planned. The Monroe Township Cultural Arts Commission Juried Art Show and all early voting and Election Day activities remain unchanged.

We will continue to serve the community throughout the project. The refurbishment of the area will be completed in three phases over several weeks.

Library Director Leah Wagner says, “The Circulation Desk and surrounding area are part of the original building from 1997. The goal of this project is to ease congestion of checkout lines and to create more space. We have been planning for this upgrade over the last five years and are excited to see it come to fruition.”

Please bear with us while this project is taking place. Visitors may expect some dust and noise, but we will make every effort to minimize disruptions during library hours.

Updates will be posted to the Library’s website.
