May 13, 2024 – A New Library Experience Is Coming!

The Monroe Township Public Library is upgrading our systems in a big way! This June, we’re making it easier to search the library catalog, find new materials, and improve your library experience. The new catalog is more intuitive and user friendly and will make it easier than ever to find what you’re looking for, manage your account, and to discover new things along the way!

The new system will launch on June 13, 2024, complete with a redesigned library catalog and updated library app. We think you will love the new functionality and user-friendly design.

The Library will be open throughout the transition period. Please remember to bring your physical library card with you, or load it on the LMxPress Plus app, since we will be unable to look up your card number while the upgrade is in process.

What follows is what you need to know about the new system and how we’re rolling it out, so check back often to learn the latest news, important dates, and any steps you may need to take. While some interruption is unavoidable, we hope to minimize any disruption that the upgrade will cause.  We anticipate the impact to be limited to June 3 – 13.

  1. Due dates for items due back between June 1 and June 13 have been automatically extended to June 22, 2024. If you have any library materials checked out, please hold on to them until after our new system launches. Any items that are returned during the transition period will remain on your account until after June 13. Don’t worry! No fines will accrue during this time.
  2. Any expiring library cards that were scheduled for renewal in June are extended until July.
  3. Starting on June 3, 2024, placing holds online will be unavailable, however any existing holds will remain on your account. You may place holds in person at the library or by phone. No holds will be fulfilled until the system upgrade is complete on June 13. Patrons are welcome to visit their local library, or any LMxAC member library, to browse and check out materials.
  4. Hoopla, Libby, and all other online resources for borrowing electronic materials (eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines, movies, music and much more) will be available.
  5. Fines cannot be paid between June 3 and June 13.
  6. Between June 3 and June 13, you won’t be able to sign up for a new library card online. We can sign you up in person.

— Q & A —

Will the library be closed, or will there be reduced hours?

No, the library will remain open during regularly scheduled hours 7 days a week.

Nope!  Your existing library card will work just fine in the new system. Please bring your physical library card with you or have your library card number card handy when checking out materials between June 3 and June 13.

Any service that requires authentication (where you have to sign in with your library card and PIN), such as eLibraryNJ / Libby or Hoopla, will remain available during the entire upgrade.

What will happen with the holds I have already placed?

All existing holds will remain on your account and will transfer to the new system.
