Make your yard more eco-friendly! How you treat your home landscape can directly impact local waterways. Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County is providing free EcoFriendly Yard kits to residents of the Manalapan Brook watershed which includes Monroe, Jamesburg, Spotswood, Helmetta, and Manalapan.

The kit includes native, flowering plants and a Rutgers soil test to determine the soil health of your lawn or garden. This project runs through May 2022 while supplies last.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1 – Go to https://go.rutgers.edu/EcoYards and search for your address in the Manalapan Brook Watershed online map. If your address is in the watershed go to step 2.

Step 2 – Watch the video “Rain Barrels to Rain Gardens: Protecting Your Watershed at Home” available at https://go.rutgers.edu/EcoYards. Note: you must view the video and be located in the watershed to qualify for the kit.

That’s it! Once you have watched the video, enter your email to receive instructions about picking up your EcoFriendly Yard kit. The deadline to participate is May 2022.
