Curbside FAQs

Library staff has worked diligently to develop procedures for curbside service that follow social distancing protocols while effectively serving Library patrons. If your question is not answered below we are happy to help!  Reach out to us Monday through Thursday (9:30 am – 8:00 pm), Friday and Saturday (9:30 am – 5:00 pm) or Sunday (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) at 732-521-5000.

How does curbside pickup work?

  1. Request your items online or over the phone. Please have your library card number handy. 
  2. Once your items become available, you will be notified by the preference associated with your library card – either email, automated call or text message.  You may then schedule your pick up during curbside hours (see below).
  3. When you arrive to the Library, please pull up to the Drive-Thru window. Tell the staff member your name & your materials will be safely handed to you.
  4. Enjoy your library materials!

What If I Don’t Have a Vehicle?

No problem! Call the Library at 732-521-5000 to make arrangements.

Is the library building be open?

The Library resumed Grab & Go service on Wednesday, March 17. Library patrons are able to enter the building, look for an item and check it out, make a photocopy, reserve an item, etc. Curbside pickup service from the Library’s Drive-Thru Window remains available by appointment for those who prefer it.

How do I request items for curbside pickup?

You can reserve most titles online or by calling the Library 732-521-5000. Once your item(s) are available you will be notified.

How long will it take for my requests to be ready?

To support social distancing efforts, we are operating with very limited staff.  We will fill your requests as quickly as possible but wait times may be longer than usual.  Thank you for your patience.

When can I pick up my items?

Curbside pickup is available:

  • Monday through Thursday 10:00 am – 7:30 pm.
  • Friday and Saturday 10:00 am – 4:30 pm.
  • Sunday 10:30 am – 1:30 pm.

You will be able to select a timeframe to pick up your items once staff notifies you that your items are ready.

How long can I keep checked out materials?

  • DVDs and Games – 7 days 
  • New adult books – 14 days
  • All other materials – 21 days

A printed due date will be attached to your bag of requested items.

How do I renew items?

You may renew your items online or by calling the library at 732-521-5000 provided that no one else has requested them or if the renewal limit has not been reached.

When will my account reflect returned items?

Returned items will remain checked out on your library card account until a quarantine period is completed. After the quarantine period has passed, items will be checked in and cleared from your account. Depending on the date and time you return an item, it could take up to a week for your library account to reflect a returned item. 

How do I return my items?

Drop off all returns in the book drop slot near the Drive Thru Window. Staff will be unable to accept books by hand during curbside pickup appointments.

What safety precautions are being taken to protect library patrons and staff?

Monroe Township Public Library staff follow all federal, state and local health guidelines. Contactless, curbside pickup allows staff and patrons to maintain social distancing of at least six feet apart. All staff will be wearing face masks during curbside pick up. All materials processed for curbside pickup have been quarantined between patron use.

Who can pick up my items?

Patrons may send a family member, caregiver or other designated person to pick up materials. Please have the pickup person call the library upon arrival during the pre-scheduled appointment time slot.

What if I cannot pick up my requested items when they become available?

You may reschedule your pickup. You need to login to the Curbside software and cancel your original time. You can then schedule a new pick up.
