I thoroughly enjoyed this book which takes place in late 1600s Massachusetts. It is the fictionalized account of what a Puritan woman endured when she was captured by Native American Indians for three months. During this time. she learns about Indian life and values and is surprised at what she learns. When she is returned to her family, Mary has many conflicted emotions concerning religion and slavery which her husband believes in. Eventually, she is bribed by the clergy into writing her story about life with the Indian tribe that captured her.
