Using the Library Catalog Go to Catalog

Users can access the Monroe Library catalog from home by clicking on the "Search the Catalog" link on the left side of the page.

Attention AOL Users: The Library catalog does not work with the AOL browser. After connecting to the Internet with AOL, minimize AOL and open up Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Firefox.


 

Searching the Catalog

Go to Catalog

Search 



Go to the Library homepage: www.monroetwplibrary.org

Click "Search the Catalog" on the top of the page.

3. Select Your Library: Click on the down arrow to the right of the word “Library”. Select “Monroe Township” if you want to limit your search to Monroe. Select “All” to search all libraries in the Catalog.

4. Enter your search terms in the white box.

Title: If you know the exact title of a book, click in the circle next to “Alphabetic search”, type your title in the white search box, and click on the blue “title” tab.

Subject: Type your subject in the white search box and then click the blue “subject” tab.

Author: Type the author’s name in the white search box and click the blue “author” tab.

Keyword: A keyword search will search all of the words from a record. Use keyword search when you do not know the exact title of an item. Click in the white circle next to the word “keyword”, type your keywords in the white search box, and click on the blue “words or phrase” box.

5. View Records

Click on the blue “Details” tab next to the title of the item that you are interested in to find out where the item is      located and if it is checked out to another patron.

Click on “New Search” on the blue bar at the top of the screen to look for another item. Click on “Search/Home” to return to the main search page.

Pin Numbers

Go to Catalog

To change your PIN #:
1. Go to the Library webpage: www.monroetwplibrary.org.

2. Click "Search the Catalog" on the top of the page.

3. Enter your Library barcode number and PIN # in the white boxes on the top of the screen.  Click the blue “Login for More Features” button.

4. Click “My Account” .

5. Click on the blue "User PIN Change " button.    
6. Enter your current PIN #:
7. Enter a new PIN # - Your PIN # can be composed of    numbers and letters, but no special characters (!, @, #, etc...) or spaces. Your PIN # is not case-sensitive. Your PIN # should be from 4-10 characters long. We suggest that you choose the last four digits of your telephone number as your PIN #.                                                                                    
8. Re-enter your new PIN # in the white box.                                          
9. Click the blue “Change PIN” button.                                          

Write your new PIN #  down in a safe place!

If you forget your PIN #, please come to the front desk for   assistance. PIN #s cannot be given out over the phone.

Reserving an Item

Go to Catalog

Holds can be placed by filling out a card at any public service desk or calling the Reserve Office (732) 521-5000. Reserves can also be placed from home using the Library catalog. There is a $1 charge for holds that are not picked up.

Reserving from Home:

1. Go to our Library homepage: www.monroetwplibrary.org
2.  Click "Search the Catalog" on the top of the page.

3. Enter your Library barcode number and PIN # in the white boxes on the top of the screen.  Click the blue “Login for More Features” button.

4. Search for the title that you want to reserve. Click on the blue "details" button to the left of the title.

5. Click on the "Place Hold" link on the left side of the screen. This link is located under the blue "Keep" tab.

6. Monroe should be listed as the pickup location. If it is not, select it from the list and click on the blue “Place Hold” button.

7. You should see a message that says your name and the title that you have placed on reserve. Click on the blue "OK" link to confirm.

Now, when you review your account, a list of the items you have placed on hold will appear.

Viewing Items Charged Out

Go to Catalog

Go to the Library webpage: www.monroetwplibrary.org.

2. Click "Search the Catalog" on the top of the page.

3. Enter your Library barcode number and PIN # in the white boxes on the top of the screen. Click the blue “Log in for More Features” button.

4. Click on the white "My Account" link on the top of the page.

5. Click on "Review My Account."

6. This will take you to a list of the items that you have charged out. You can also view due dates and fines from this screen.

Renewing an Item

Go to Catalog

You can renew an item at the Circulation Desk or by calling the Circulation Department at (732) 521-5000. Renewals can also be placed from home through the Library catalog.

Renewing from Home:

1. Go to our Library homepage: www.monroetwplibrary.org
Click "Search the Catalog" on the top of the page.

3. Enter your library barcode number and PIN # in the white boxes on the top of the screen. Click the blue “Login for More Features” button.

4. Click on the white "My Account" link on the top of the page.

5. Click on "Renew My Materials."
6. This will take you to a list of the items that you have charged out with due dates.

Renew selected items: Click in the white box to the left of the title and then click on the blue "Renew Selected Items" button on the bottom of the page.
Renew all items: Click in the white circle next to "Renew All." Click on the blue "Renew Selected Items" button on the bottom of the page.

7. Click the blue "OK" link on the bottom of the page.

8. If the item was renewed, the screen will say “Item Renewed”.  If the item was not renewed, it will say “Failed to Renew”. All items may not be renewable. DVDs and books from other libraries are not renewable.

Interlibrary Loan

Go to Catalog

If you are looking for a book that we do not own, we may be able to obtain it from another library. If the book is in our catalog, you may be able to obtain if by placing a reserve.

If the book is not in our catalog, we may be able to borrow this book from another library in New Jersey or out-of-state through a system called JerseyCat. To search JerseyCat and place a request for a book, please click the JerseyCat icon:
