Rave (Read Aloud Volunteer Ensemble)
RAVE (Read Aloud Volunteer Ensemble) is a cooperative program sponsored by the Monroe Township Library, Monroe Township Office on Aging, and the Monroe Township Board of Education. Volunteers are trained to read aloud to children and then present a regular 30-minute storytime in a classroom in the Monroe Township, Jamesburg or East Windsor school districts. Reading and Math Partners
The Monroe Township Library is looking for volunteers for its Math and Reading Partners program. The program pairs members of the community with elementary age students to help the young people maintain their math or reading skills during the summer months when they are away from school. Volunteers usually meet once a week for approximately one hour. Applications may be picked up at the Library or downloaded at

Teen Volunteers
Why Volunteer?
--The Library needs your help. You can make the difference in the quality
of library service in your community.
--Learn new skills and gain recognized work experience. Earn letters of
recommendation for college or future employment.
--You will provide a community service.
--Get first crack at the newest books, DVDs, videos and CDs.
Volunteers work in different departments of the Library depending on
where needs are greatest. Tasks vary, but primarily involve helping us
get books, videos, DVDs and other materials back on the shelves after
they are returned.
Volunteers are expected...
- to commit to a regular schedule and complete their tasks to the best
of their abilities. - to call if they are unable to work as scheduled.
- to be friendly and polite to the public, staff and other volunteers.
- to commit to a minimum of 10 hours of service.
- to take the initiative. We want to hear your ideas and thoughts.
- to be a positive role model when working with younger kids.
If you are in sixth grade or older and interested in becoming a Monroe Teen Volunteer, please complete and return the application to the Library with both sides completed.
Please note that while we always welcome applications, there are limits to the number of available openings the Library may have at a given time. We will keep your application on file. Thank you for your interest.
