Summer 2013 Volunteers Needed!

The Monroe Township Library is currently seeking volunteers for its 2013 Math and Reading Partners program!

Math and Reading Partners is a summer program for children finishing Grades K-7 Students are individually paired with an adult or high school volunteer from the community who will help them practice their math skills and/or reading skills over the summer months. The Youth Services Department hopes that you will consider participating in this successful program.

Volunteer applications may be picked up at the Youth Services Desk or downloaded here. Applications are due Friday, May 17th.

Darien Public Library (CT) - Early Literacy iPad Apps
The Darien Public Library lists a variety of educational and fun apps for pre-schoolers.
 
The iPhone Mom
The iPhone Mom is a site put together by real moms who review apps for kids AND for moms! 
 
Moms with Apps
Another popular mom-run site that provides helpful reviews on children's apps and tech info, as well as great deals with weekly "App Friday" app discounts.

Math and Reading Buddies Applications for Fall - Now Available!

Does your child need additional help in math and/or reading?
The Monroe Township Library Math and Reading Buddies program individually pairs high school volunteers with elementary and middle school students who need to practice their math or reading skills.  The Buddies usually meet for up to one hour per week after school or on weekends at the Library—once paired, meeting times are set up by the volunteer and student’s family together.

The Fall Session runs from September 24 to December 14, and applications are due Friday, September 7, so sign up today!  For further questions, contact the Youth Services Department at 732-521-5000 x.116.
